Diabetes Testing

Diabetes is a condition in which the body cannot regulate the amount of sugar (glucose) in the blood. Glucose in the blood is required by the body to perform daily activities, as it gives you energy. Insulin allows glucose to move from the blood into the liver, muscle, and fat cells, where it is used as fuel for the body. Diabetic people either do not produce enough insulin, which is referred as type 1 diabetes, or cannot use insulin properly, which is type 2 diabetes, or sometimes both. Diabetes could ultimately lead to high blood sugar levels-a condition called hyperglycemia. Diabetes is diagnosed when a person's glucose level is above 7.

Causes

  • Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease. It is due to heredity and environmental factors. It is more commonly found in men than in women.
  • Type 2 diabetes has strong genetic links and can also be due to high blood pressure, high levels of blood triglyceride, aging, high-fat diet, excessive alcohol intake, and being overweight.

Symptoms

  • Requirement for tea, coffee, or a cigarette to get you going in the morning.
  • Cravings for chocolate, sweet foods, bread, or cereal.
  • Have energy slumps during the day or after meals.
  • Mood swings.
  • Difficulty in concentrating.
  • Fatigue.
  • Unexplained weight loss.
  • Excessive thirst.
  • Frequent urination.
  • Blurred vision.

You can see a complete reversal of type 2 diabetes by a radical non-drug approach. In such an approach, you need to maintain a balanced low glycemic load (GL) diet, coupled with a healthy lifestyle. A GL diet provides a slow release of sugar along with protein foods.

Insulin insensitivity or insulin resistance is the first indication of pre-diabetes and affects mainly overweight people. Under pre diabetic condition, the blood sugar level is higher than normal but not enough to be considered diabetic. Pre-diabetes increases your risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Pre-diabetes can be reversed by losing weight and increasing your physical activity, without insulin or any other medication.

An international expert committee of the American Diabetes Association has recently redefined the criteria for pre-diabetes, lowering the blood sugar level cut-off point for pre-diabetes. Approximately 20% more adults are now believed to have this condition and may develop diabetes within 10 years if they do not exercise or maintain a healthy weight.

You must include cinnamon in your food as it is a natural remedy for blood sugar regulation. Cinnamon contains MCHP which mimics the exact action of insulin and increases glucose metabolism. Alternatively you can use a concentrated extract of cinnamon called CinnulinÂ, which is high in MCHP. If you are tested positive for diabetes, you are recommended to take 400mcg of chromium with breakfast, and 200mcg at lunch. A strict low GL diet combined with supplements of the mineral chromium and cinnamon prove very effective in reversal of diabetes. You must exercise regularly to delay diabetes and normalize blood glucose.
